History of HapkidoHapkido is a Korean martial art which is founded in the 20th century and expanded rapidly into an international style. The founders created their style by adding and improving existing techniques of other martial art styles. Many Hapkido techniques are related to Daito Ryu Aiki-Jujitsu, a Japanese martial art style. This Japenese style was studied thoroughly and added to Hapkido together with a wide range of Korean techniques and philosophies, as well as many new techniques that were developed. Some of these new techniques have been adopted by other styles of martial art. It's important to understand that martial art techniques are not developed by one person. |
One of the most important, if not the most important founder of Hapkido is Ji Han-Jae.
